The movies brought them back into the mainstream, and then, of course, there was this—perhaps the single-greatest SNL Digital Short of all time. But even without these modern reminders, CS Lewis’ seven-book high fantasy series remains a classic young adult adventure.

And like any good young adult series, this one isn’t just for the kids. Embedded within the battles and journeys and whimsy is deep theology, subtle philosophy, and nuanced ethics.

These are truly fantastic books to delve into, and perfect summer reading for those wishing to feel a sense of youth once more or to share aloud with one’s own children.

I’ve recently dusted off my copies of the timeless series, and I plan on dashing off to Narnia on summer nights once more. I’d be delighted if you’d join me in a quest for Aslan and so much more.  Happy reading!
